Originally powered by an inline 6, the X-100 now has a blueprinted and balanced 454-cube injected Chevy LS7 V-8, twisting a racing Powerglide transmission and a Halibrand Champ rear end. The all-steel body rides on a specially fabricated chassis.
With the 300 c.i. six, the car ran a 137 MPH quarter-mile in 9.5 seconds. The 454 has raised that to 149 MPH in 8.85 seconds. Unfortunately, today’s rules would demand major modifications before it could compete.
